I was a single mom of a preschool child and wanted nothing more then to obtain my degree in Early Childhood. I enrolled my in our local Head Start program (Holyoke, Chicopee, Springfield Head Start in Mass.) in the full day full year program. My son had some social issues and was diagnosed with ADD at 4 years old. He had the most wonderful supportive teachers imaginable! They supported his growth in the classroom and supported me as his mother and my own personal educational growth. He grew to love going to school and has developed wonderful long lasting friendships all of which I contribute to his positive first experience of school! I was employed during my last semester of college by the Head Start Program he was attending. I worked there for 3 years and then tried a private daycare and nannying. I have since ended up back in a Head Start program in Southbridge Mass, I belong in a Head Start program. I like knowing I can give back! I appreciate all the wonderful caring people who supported my family and help me to succeed and I love that I can now be that role model and support to other families and I take that responsibility very serious!!!! Thank you to all of you who also choose to support those families that really need good caring support! I hope you all know the difference you truly make in the lives of some of your families.
