I am a past parent, volunteer, assistant teacher, Head Teacher, and presently -Transition Coordinator. I joined the Head Start family as a single parent…no goals, no direction, no early childhood education experiences-with the help of Head Start I earned my Bachelor’s in Social Science and Early Childhood Education and continued… in 1999 I received my Masters in Education. From Head Start I gained a sense of purpose, direction, and most of all- a deep love for the population we serve. Part of my inspiration to succeed and continue my education came from my past and present Head Start directors… (my role models); my continued daily experiences with the children and their families empowered me, and gave me a vision. As a role model for other struggling parents, my daughter a past Head Start participant, and now a college graduate (BA-Deans List), my love for the children, educational wisdom… and as a CASA* volunteer monitor, for Children in Placement* has helped me to give back to my community.
